TO KNOW JESUS AND MAKE HIM KNOWN.
This is the mission statement the youth work carries. We want to encourage young people to get to know Jesus and equip them to make him known to their friends.
GET THE WORD OUT: with each of the group the heart is discipleship, enabling the young people to go out and share their faith with their friends. For it to be SALUENGENIC (life giving) –ideally their lives reflect their faith. We aim to EMPOWER them!
We encourage them to be ACTIVIST's - not to just sit and wait to have stuff done. Our desire is they will learn to work stuff out themselves. It is ORGANIC .... We are not shiny but we are about RELATIONSHIPS! (not the romantic sort).
When Jesus called his disciples they were teenagers who had been told they were not good enough but Jesus said come follow me. ‘You are good enough’. He then walked through life with them, sharing with them.
Each of the groups are encouraged to make friends and in many cases are like FAMILY to each other. We meet mid-week for COFFEE/HOT CHOCOLATE....
Get the word out. Teach all these things. And don't let anyone put you down because you're young. Teach believers with your life: by word, by demeanor, by love, by faith, by integrity. 1 Tim 4:12 (Msg)
